Integrative Care For Babies and Children
My goal is to support your family by providing integrative solutions and act as your health advocate.
I do recommend you have a pediatrician with whom you have established a patient in addition to my care. Seasonal maintenance visits as well as care during times of ill health will give you and your child the best preventative care possible. I work within your health care and immunization choices to provide the ideal treatments for your child. I also recommend you find out your childs blood type so that a full understanding of his or her constitution can be supported early on. As your child grows and changes their needs will change and I aim to help you understand the changes and teach you strategies that will empower your ability to care for your child naturally with home based and specific remedies. During seasonal epidemics I offer guidance and support and products that are ideal for children.
The first 2 years of life are a delicate time in a childs life. As a healthy exercise of their immunity the most common illnesses are fever, colds, coughs, rashes, irritability, digestive problems and insomnia. These are not only natural and healthy for a child to experience and for the development of the immune system. These childhood "dis- eases" (uneasynesses) should be treated with gentle and natural medicines, pure foods and supportive techniques such as gua sha, infant tui na, cupping, herbal and homeopathic medicines. These methods treat not just the symptoms but will preserve the immune systems ability to deal with things. Immediatly giving motrin or tylenol at the first sign of a fever is often counter productive if only for temporary relief of crying and fussyness and only further exacerbated problems as it is hard on a childs liver and detoxification pathways.
The birth experience may have had an effect on the structural aspect of the physiology and can be gently corrected with massage and gentle craniosacral techniques that liberate fascia and clear stored trauma in the body. Many mothers tell me their birth stories and feel that there may be some emotional or spiritual trauma that is effecting their child. They sometimes have a lot of guilt and have not cleared their own birth trauma due to c-sections, bad experiences of the birth, ect. Often the fact that the mother is feeling this way-will supporting the energy of it. The impression remains and without transformation it will become a layer that sets a foundation in experience Flower essences are helpful to clear any percieved or un percieved birth or gestational traumas that may exist. There is a saying in chinese medicine. "To treat the child, treat the mother". This is a 5 element theory that not only serves as a foundation for treating a persons organs but it is also a key point in treating pediatric patients.
In summary, children have an uncanny ability to come into balance. Health depends upon balance energetically, structurally, chemically as well as emotionally. Sometimes our geneticsSchedule regular visits with an integrative pratitioner that will support these aspects of your childs health as you would the well baby visits with a pediatrician. Health is preserved with pure food, pure water and pure medicine.
